Looking for Yankees. (New Englanders)

My wife and I are taking a trip starting next week.

We have a rough Itinerary, but no set schedule really.... very fluid.

Washington DC - New Haven CT - Bar Harbor ME - Burlington VT - Niagra Falls - Hershey PA - Home.

Any points of interest, great places to eat, things to do would be welcome as neither of us has ever been to New England.
