To refresh your DNS info, go to the Start menu, choose “Run…”. Type ipconfig /flushdns. Now relaunch your web browser and/or game launchpads.
Yes, this sort of works.

You see the way this works is that every address on the internet is a number like 10.10.10.10. When you type in "everquest.com", it goes to a bunch of computers called DNS Servers (I think there might be maybe 13 main ones) where they look up "everquest.com" and then send your computer 10.10.10.10 (example only, not the real number).

Now, this whole "lookup" table where "everquest.com" is "10.10.10.10" is stored in tons of places. Besides the 13 main DNS Servers, there are lots and lots of others. Your ISP has one, Google has a ton, etc. They all need to update, and as Lluke said, they only update every so often.

Ok, so how does typing ipconfig /flushdns on your computer do anything? Well, your computer also stores a lookup table. So by flushing (yes, like a toilet) your computer's lookup table, you force your computer to go get the new list. But if your ISP or whoever you get the list from hasn't updated yet, you just get the bad list again.

I had to flush my dns list several times over the day to get it to work.

FIX:

If you really need to get into EQ and can't by flushing (go to the Start menu, choose “Run…”. Type ipconfig /flushdns Now relaunch your web browser and/or game launchpads), then:

Windows XP: Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. Right click on the connection you are using, click TCP/IPv4, click Properties. Click the circle for Use the following DNS server addresses then manually put in DNS servers listed below.

Windows Vista / 7 / 8:
Open Computer, Right click Network, Choose properties. Click Change Adapter Settings on the left. Right click the NIC you are using. Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click properties. Click the circle for "Use the following DNS server addresses".

Manually put in the DNS servers listed below:

Preferred DNS Server: 64.37.129.11
Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

(The first DNS Server is SOE's, the second is Google's)

Click OK

Launch EQ

Note: In a few days from now, make sure to go back and change it to "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
