SOE Forgetting To Pay The Bills Causing Connection Issues

    http://eq2wire.com/2014/07/15/sonyon...ames-websites/
We are in the process of researching this issue, but it looks like the domain registration for the domain SonyOnline.net expired this morning, reverting back to being the property of NetworkSolutions. While SOE did not use the domain publicly, preferring SOE.com, the aforementioned domain contains all of the nameservers (ns2.sonyonline.net, ns4.sonyonline.net, ns6.sonyonline.net) which route users to SOE’s websites and forums, as well as connecting to its games.
    Everquest.com hijacked?

    Finally, official response from SOE:

    Intermittent Access Issues (July 15)

EDIT: Adding this for people who can't see what SOE wrote:

The login issues reported this morning have begun to be resolved. However, some players may be unable to connect to SOE services intermittently for up to 48 hours, including websites, forums, and games. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The thread also has tons of comments and the work-around I posted below.

Fanra can you confirm if this is accurate?

One article says that the cache in our PCs will hold the incorrect IP address. The fix is completed, but if your PC has the old IP address it needs to be cleared because it can take 24 - 48 hours before your PC will go out to get the IP address again, causing the 24 - 48 hour delay Sony quoted.

The solution provided is this, but I have not tried it and don't want to until confirmed. I don't want to remove all the cached IP addresses from my pc.

To refresh your DNS info, go to the Start menu, choose “Run…”. Type ipconfig /flushdns. Now relaunch your web browser and/or game launchpads.
Will this work or is there an easier way?

Edit - DNS not IP address...

Yes, DNS routinely takes up to 48 hours to propagate through all the stops along the Internet chain... Many name servers are only set to update once every 24 to 48 (and in some cases 72) hours...

So, yes, this could cause quite a delay for some...
